Biking in Washington

Washington was a great place to start our trip because the views were spectacular and the roads are well-traveled by bikes.  We found the most opportunities for free camping there.

There are too many logging trucks though!  And lots of garbage, which was unexpected.  Because of the clear-cutting all along 101, there are few wild animals near the highway and therefore, almost no roadkill.  So that's why clear-cutting is a good idea.

It rained most of the time we were there, and we stayed in motels a couple of times just to escape the constant downpour.  Thank goodness it wasn't really cold.  Peter likened it to vacationing in an aquarium.

The rainforest was beautiful and riding the Astoria Bridge was an experience.
